Facebook Messenger is the latest product from the social media giant to receive a major update with the introduction of video calling.
Effective immediately, you can now make video calls from within the Messenger App if you’re using iOS or Android in any of the countries Facebook has listed.
The launch of this update was accompanied with the following from Facebook:
“Video calling in Messenger is launching today for people on iOS and Android in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, the UK, the US and Uruguay. We’ll be rolling out to other regions and locales over the coming months.”
The new feature couldn’t be easier to use. It is accessed from any Messenger conversation with the tap of a single button.
Facebook were keen to stress the feature will work from iOS to Android device and isn’t same-OS specific (we’d have been very surprised if it had been!).
The update is the latest in a wave of announcements Facebook has made recently. We don’t recall a time when they’ve been busier in deploying products and the new feature will be an undoubted hit with users.
As is usual nowadays, Facebook have produced a short video on Vimeo to let you see the new feature in action…
